Formply is the well-known plywood specifically engineered for the Concrete Formwork Industry.Certified to specific stress-grades, Formply is typically available in various strength ratings from F11 thru to F27. Formply sheets are 17mm thick (historically the most popular choice)
Years ago, plywood in floors was limited to sheathing and underlays. Nowadays, it’s utilised as a cost-effective flooring finish as well. Thanks to technological improvements, plywood flooring is now a viable alternative to most other floors. It offers a durable and more affordable solution for many
LVL should be preservative treated to ensure it lasts its full service life as it is manufactured from a range of hardwood and softwood timber species. For termite and rot resistance, LVL can be treated to H2 standards. For a lower cost alternative can be manufactured with a bifenthrin glue line additive which provides termite resistance but is only suitable for use south of the tropic of Capricorn.
The difference of F grade and MGP grade in LVL lumber.
Structural gradingStructural grading is the process by which timber is sorted into groups - or stress grades - with ideally, similar structural properties in each group. Inevitably there is a very substantial range of properties within a group and significant overlap in properties between the groups
Wood has an important role providing temporary structural support during the building process. Common wooden temporary structures include formwork and scaffolding.
Australia is close to understanding the quantity of engineered wood products it uses each year. New trade data shows – for the first time – the volume as well as the value of LVL, Glulam, CLT and I-Beams imported to and exported from Australia and New Zealand and in fact, most countries around the world. The data is still thin – we only have one month at hand right now (January 2022) – but it will be less than a year and the trends will be clear.
The choice of building formwork over wood went through a long process. Early building formwork used steel or aluminum materials. The process of making metal formwork is very complex and expensive.
